It’s Autumn and the cows have gone!

140 animals have roamed the common and the marshes for the last six months and looked to be in excellent form, the droughts over summer notwithstanding – although we can only imagine they enjoyed the return of the luscious grass in recent weeks. They were tested for TB last week and found to be in fine fettle. So, today the 35 Aberdeen Angus heifers were rounded up and left.   There remain 45 Belgian Blues for another week before they too return to their farm.

The cattle on Freeman’s Marsh were collected last week so the Marshes are now free of these lovely beasts.

There will be a bit to do in preparation for the return of the cows next spring, including the big litter-pick in April. We’ll no doubt be posting news.
