📸 Flashback Friday: Hungerford Town Hall Through the Years 🏛
Standing proudly at the heart of our town, Hungerford Town Hall has seen centuries of local history unfold — from bustling market days and civic ceremonies to community events and royal visits. 🇬🇧
The current building, completed in 1871, replaced earlier versions that date back to at least the mid-13th century! Its elegant Victorian architecture and iconic clock tower make it a true landmark — and a constant reminder of Hungerford’s rich heritage. 🕰️
Over the decades, it’s been a:
✔️ Town council hub
✔️ Courthouse
✔️ Marketplace
✔️ Centre for celebrations & public gatherings
If those walls could talk, they’d tell tales of elections, declarations, and generations of townspeople coming together to shape the place we call home.
Below is a picture of The 1607 Town Hall in 1769! Credit must be given here to the fabulous work that Hungerford Virtual Museum do, providing us all with this valuable information. Find more information and even more pictures over on their website.
Have any photos or memories from inside the Town Hall? We’d love to see them in the comments below! 👇

🌳🐄 Ever wondered what’s happened to the lower branches of the trees on the common?
Well… we’ve discovered the culprits! 😅
It turns out, some of the cheekier cows in the herd have decided that grass just isn’t exciting enough. They’ve taken a liking to the tender leaves and low-hanging branches instead! 🍃😋
They’ve clearly been enjoying the buffet — and as you can see, no branch is safe if it’s within reach (or even a little stretch!). We can’t blame them really… fresh foliage must be the salad bar of the cow world. 🥗🐮
🐮 The cows will be staying with us until after summer, so please continue to drive slowly and carefully over the common. Your caution helps keep both the cows and walkers safe. 🚗
If you’re out for a walk and notice these leafy snacks disappearing — now you know who’s to blame!
