✨ Hocktide, 1920 ✨
With Hocktide returning this April, what a wonderful moment to pause and look back at celebrations from years gone by.
This incredible photograph from 1920 is a reminder of just how deeply rooted Hocktide is in Hungerford’s history — a tradition that has brought the town together for generations.
From then to now, the spirit of Hocktide lives on, connecting past and present and keeping our unique heritage alive 💛
📸 Photograph with thanks to Hungerford Virtual Museum
We can’t wait to welcome Hocktide back again this April — another chapter in a story that’s been unfolding for centuries.

See the number of lads wearing caps.
It would still have that presence if coins were thrown as they were when i was younger.
Oxygen Photography >> Hocktide is probably the last Hungerford tradition I haven’t managed to photograph yet.
It’s not so good as it once was coins and oranges.
