Freeman’s Marsh covers 90 acres of wildlife habitat! How lucky are we, that this is on our doorstep.
It straddles the Rivers Dun and Kennet, and the Kennet and Avon canal to the west of Hungerford. The marsh is home to a wide variety of wild birds, plants and animals – some of which are rare in southern England.
However, some of the wildlife species associated with the Marsh, such as water voles and ground-nesting birds, have declined over recent years.
Please do make sure that you keep to the footpaths to ensure that nesting birds and other amazing wildlife aren’t disturbed! We would hate to lose them.

🐄 Cow Alert 🐄
Thank you to everyone who keep an eye on the wonderful cows on the common.
If you do find a cow that doesn’t seem well, please feel free to email;
The Hayward on Philip.porter@townandmanor.co.uk
Other ways that the message of a poorly girl gets picked up (and usually very quickly) is by posting it on to Hungerford social media pages, or pop in to The Downgate where they will pass any messages on or message this page! This page is monitored by many trustee’s and someone will see it quickly.
Once again; thank you for helping us keep the cows safe and well!

Berkshires Local Nature Recovery Strategy workshop was held in the Corn Exchange at The Town Hall last Tuesday.
The wonderful team at ARK gave an amazing presentation on the work that they have been doing lately. We had had representatives talk about the new Wetland project that we hope will be kicking off later this year.
So much amazing information in such little time!

‼️‼️ The Common & The Cows ‼️‼️
We are aware that number 50 is struggling. She is physically ok but has probably eaten something unpleasant.
Number 41 has a bad left rear hoof. We are monitoring her and will round her up for a jab if she does not recover in a day or two.
She has probably got some broken glass in the hoof. We shall keep an eye on her.
Please please remember that the cows are on the common for a while. Please take EVERYTHING you take on to the common home.
